![]() The West African BushThis website is a resource for those interested in the bush of West African countries, particularly Nigeria. West Africa countries are very similar to each other in many ways but they are also extremely different and diverse. My goal for this site is for people to learn more about the bush and share with each other their adventures in Africa. Most of this information concerns Naija. Please if you have "gone for BUSH" in countries such as Cameroon, C.A.R. (Central African Republic), Benin, Chad, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger, or any other unheard of place please write me so i can publish it. Many of us know Nigeria, not as a tourist friendly and ecologically rich country, instead as a developing country plagued with problems. Industry in the south has caused environmental pollution and forest degradation. Logging and agriculture also resulted in the loss of forest and savanna woodlands and the associated fauna. Roads for oil and logging open up forests to hunters and exploiters. Home to more than 100 million people with a 3% annual growth rate causes us to look at the future in a very grim way. The function of this website is to inform Nigerians and others about what Nigeria has to offer ecologically, before its all gone. Through the governments efforts in conservation Nigeria has 32 game reserves/sanctuaries and six National Parks covering about 4,293,800 ha. There are 12 strict Nature Reserves and 13 proposed Game Reserves/National Parks covering about 372,000 ha located across the country. There is hope. Contact
